He Really Is Beautiful

by Laure Alexander

Her fingers play over the bumps and ridges, thumbs parting chapped lips, pressing delicately against fangs, not enough to pierce the skin, but enough to send shivers through him.

"You're beautiful," she whispers as she draws those thumbs over the high cheekbones even the demon can't distort. He snorts and she smiles. "You don't believe me?"

"I may not be able to see my reflection but I know what a vampire looks like. Nothing beautiful there, Buffy." His self-deprecation makes her smile even wider and rise on her toes to kiss him softly. "Don't," he murmurs, but doesn't try to pull away.

"We'll find the witch and get the spell lifted, but it really doesn't matter, Spike. I've always seen past the exterior. It used to frighten me, then it intrigued me, but since your soul..." Her hand cups his cheek, drawing him down for another kiss. "Inside, you're beautiful."

"I'd say you'd been drinking, but all I taste is strawberry lip gloss," he laughs softly and wraps his arms around her back. "If you're sure..."

"You love me, demon and man, that's what I see, that's all that matters."

"I still want the spell broken."

She giggles, "Well, yeah, because I miss those pretty blue eyes of yours."

"Shallow."

Giggling again, Buffy tugs him towards the bed, deciding tomorrow is soon enough to track down the witch that cursed her boyfriend.

He really is beautiful anyway she can get him.
